Beverly Hills, 90210

You can’t kick off a conversation about the current wave of 90s fashion influence without mentioning 90210, the definitive series that functioned like a “Later!” to the Twentieth Century, running from 1990-2000 and capturing the hearts, minds, and California dreams of an entire generation of Millennials. When Luke Perry rolled up to the Peach Pit in his vintage Porsche Speedster, every guy wanted to be him. And when Shannon Doherty rocked an oversized tweed blazer over acid washed denim with a Western belt, every tween girl from Minnesota to Miami tried to replicate it.

The looks, like the decade, were at times sporty, other times glamorous, and always excessive: Reebok Pumps, floral dresses over tees, rolled up sleeves, shoulder pads, faded jeans, and bare midriffs. Not to mention some of the most iconic frames in the business—Although a rumor floated around that director Aaron Spelling wouldn’t allow his actors to wear sunglasses (he wanted the audience to see their beautiful, angsty eyes), some timeless pairs appeared on screen.
