The Outback

When someone from another country that you've only briefly met once asks you to go camping in the outback of Australia for a month, just say yes. That's how I spent my summer avoiding the sweltering city heat of Los Angeles. In late July, a ticket was booked for me to go "Down Under," for a wild camping trip shooting photos with the creative collective, The Adventure Handbook.

Two weeks later, I was in South Australia in the dead of winter (which is basically the same as the "winter" in L.A.), with 4 guys I didn't know, about to spend 17 days and nights traveling and camping throughout the center of the country. South Australia is more or less like Joshua Tree but dyed with a red hue and minus basically everything. Showers were nearly impossible to come by, we camped wherever we could manage, I saw probably 200 kangaroos, fell in love, washed my clothes in the river and cried looking at the most vivid view of the Milky Way I could have ever have imagined. Like I said, if anyone ever asks you to go camping in the outback of Australia, just say YES.
