San Onofre State Beach

San Onofre State Beach

Words: Andrew Krell
NUCLEAR RELAXATION BRO

Most people who know about San Onofre don’t want me to tell you about it. It’s no secret spot; you can even see it from the highway. But that doesn’t make the locals any less cranky and guarded about this gem. Affectionately known as San O, this legendary place has everything a successful surf trip needs: camp spots with fire pits, sweet trails, sandy beaches, and, yes, lots of waves. Just north is Trestles, a surf break on the ASP World Tour, where crowds of often thirty plus semi-professional surfers can be found competing for some of the best waves Southern California has to offer.
