THE OLDEST BUSINESS ON THE BLOCK: GLENCREST BBQ

You don’t eat at Glencrest BBQ just because the food is amazing; You eat at Glencrest because Glencrest is amazing. Welcome to Abbot Kinney Boulevard, the home of Glen Crest BBQ, a twenty-five year old family owned landmark operated by Chris Featherstone for twenty years. Glencrest BBQ is an all-cash eatery with soul seeping out of every corner. It is about as close to an oil drum roadside BBQ as you are going to get this side of the Mississippi.

The interior is small, mustard yellow walls and a big kitchen. As you enter the building there is an undeniable smell of smoked wood, which always equals good BBQ. Collard greens, mac n’ cheese, red beans and rice, bacon burgers and strawberry soda make for a perfect All-American comfort meal. Glencrest takes a patron back to simpler times. The vibe is reminiscent of a true local hangout, which is a welcomed departure from the normal fiasco involved with dining on this street. The rules here are fairly simple: you order your food, you get it, you eat it, you lick your fingers, you go.
