Meet Michael & Rick Mast, brothers and co-founders of the industry's coolest and most delicious new chocolate company, Mast Brothers Chocolate. I first discovered their amazing Made in Brooklyn chocolate when I strolled into Saturdays New York last year and noticed some incredibly packaged chocolate bars. Their classy and interesting approach to chocolate, both the chocolate itself and the branding, seems to be re-inventing people's taste buds.
This past week we were lucky enough to be a destination on their book release tour, as they were signing autographs in A. Kinney Courtyard and giving some insight into their Brooklyn Based chocolate company. Their new book, “Mast Brothers Chocolate: A Family Cookbook,” is filled with chocolate-centric recipes, as simple as chocolate milk and as complex as cocoa coq au vin.
The Mast Brothers are taking a clean approach to their process; their intensely flavored chocolate is made only from cacao pods and cane sugar, which may not seem so impressive until you read the long ingredients lists on other bars: lecithin, milk solids, palm oil.
Thanks Nicole Hucker at G for bringing the brothers to our neighborhood!
You might want to hurry up and grab this book so you have something special to make for the holidays! Mast Brothers Chocolate: A Family Cookbook
