Merchant Modern

By garrett

Jessica Garber teamed up with Denise Portsman and just opened their store Merchant Modern on the ever growing retail anomaly, Lincoln Blvd.  Denise was the previous owner of the famous venice beach thrift store Gotta Have It, now passed it on to  our friend Nikki Nalepa. About a year or two ago, a handful of original locally owned retail stores began opening on Lincoln Blvd. as a result of the constantly rising rents on Abbot Kinney. Although Lincoln Blvd. is one of the most highly trafficked streets in all of Los Angeles, it is primarily filled with cars. But, the true Venice local is happy to bike or walk anywhere. Funny enough, as corporate businesses continue to pay the high rents on Abbot Kinney, its the new businesses on Lincoln that locals are buzzing about. All the while hating on and doing anything they can to not support the new big business companies trying to get a piece of the action on Abbot Kinney.

Filled with everything from local photography, to found furniture, rugs, trinkets, ceramics and everything in between. Those heart flasks are from local artist  and jewelry designer Jessica Seaton.

Merchant Modern is located at 3002 Lincoln Blvd, cross streets Pier and Lincoln. Pretty damn close to Cock N' Bull, where you can grab some whiskey and some laughs after your done shopping for home goods.
