GLCO Icons Campaign: DJ Harvey
The second installation of the Garrett Leight California Optical "Icons" Campaign features none other than world renowned DJ Harvey Bassett. The goal of the campaign is to focus on the people, places, and things that inspire us. From the eyeglasses and sunglasses we create to the overall attitude of our Venice based brand.
Knowing Harvey for going on five years now and being a member of the same community made him the natural choice to follow up the Arthur Miller video. Over the years many of us locals have experienced his performances in a variety of different ways from Sarcastic Disco warehouse parties in the middle of Glendale that go till eight in the morning to five-hour sets at Rhonda, to Louis Vuitton in-store parties. The reaction for many of us friends and fans when we heard that he would be playing Coachella was beyond elation and just overall curiosity and excitement as to what he might do, play, or say. Needless to say, it was something that none of us could miss. So we packed our bags and headed to the desert, and this short documentation of the experience is just a peak into a little bit of what its all like for DJ Harvey himself. Clearly a man with a mind of his own and a vision unlike anyone I've had the pleasure of knowing, even if its just a little bit.
